Marithe & Francois Girbaud have moved from their fashion beginning in the early 60's, when they imported cowboy style clothing into Paris, the influence of the cowboy style can still be seen in their clothing to this day. Following this they successfully introduced washed jeans to the unsuspecting Parisians, the jeans having been washed in the local laundries. By 1969 they had signed their first licensing deal.
They are now in their fourth decade and are recognised depending where in world you are. In the USA they are best known for their Hip hop style jeans, while in Europe they are best known for a more sophisticated look.
There are 2 collections in the UK for Men and two collections for women. One thing that stands out is the quality of production, it is first class.
