ISSEY MIYAKE LONG STRIPED JACKET
Issey Miyake genderless, blue/black striped, long, soft jacket in what we think is a linen/cotton mix. Woven black and blue pattern. Padded shoulders. Long notched lapels. Double breasted style with 2 parallel buttons with matching buttonholes. 2 pockets with finishing trim. Plain turned cuffs. Straight, turned finished hems. the sleeves are pleated over the shoulder, where they join the main body of the garment (pleated not puff sleeves). This very beautiful jacket is from a very early Issey Miyake collection and was purchased in Tokyo, Japan after the cat-walk show. We believe this to be 1973, but it could be 74. There are no labels excepting the main label at the neck, there have never been any other labels since it arrived in Corniche, from Japan and as such we suspect it was the sample piece, purchased by Nina's brother Bill for her shop pre-Corniche. A lovely example of early 70s Japanese design and a great example of one of the great designers. We estimate it as Medium size.
